Park
No charge to enter the park.  Gates locked each evening at dusk.


Car Park
Parking at Roman Lakes is free. There are two designated parking places for the disabled.


Toilets
Toilet facilities free of charge and located to the side of the main building. Disabled toilet facilities available.

Kiosk
A range of hot and cold drinks and snacks is available. A full range of ice creams is stocked.


Tea Rooms
An extensive range of hot and cold drinks, lights snacks and meals are available. A wide selection of teas, coffees and homemade cakes always available.

Tea Dances
Last Saturday of the month. Tickets £15 each, including evening meal. Bring your own alcohol. Booking essential. 5.30pm – 8.30pm, tickets £15 each. Booking essential


Angling
Angling is charged per rod per day. Please see angling section for further details. Permits must be purchased before setting up equipment from the takeaway cafe. Strictly no night fishing. No entry until gates unlocked.
Angling for the disabled is encouraged and all pitches have easy access. No areas of the park are hard surfaced but in most conditions much of the park is accessible with care and there are no steep gradients.


Walking
Whether you are looking for a short stroll around the site or a more challenging route the Roman Lakes is the perfect place from which to start your walk. Free History and Nature Trail routes available (1 – 2 miles) and circular rambling routes available to purchase from the café - £1


Mountain Biking
No cycling within the park itself. The Roman Lakes does however offer the perfect place from which to access miles of great bike routes. Book of circular mountain bike routes starting at the Roman Lakes available from café - £1.


Canoeing
Canoeing is by pre appointment only in organised and supervised groups. Please see our canoeing section regards available courses.

 

Archaeology

The site of Mellor is subject to some really exciting archaeology excavations. Get involved by taking a guided tour of the site or taking part in the excavations. Weather dependent, further information in Mellor Mill excavations tab to left.

 

Play area

The play area for children under 8 is very popular, located by the main building.

 

Picnic area

There are several picnic tables and benches around the park and many large logs. The large field is great in summer for large picnics and family fun.   Strictly no barbeques within the park.
