Accessing the Roman Lakes by Train & Foot:
Marple and Strines Train Station times: Trainline.
From Marple
From Marple Central Train Station: Marple central train station provides Marple with frequent connections between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly. If traveling from the station by foot, access to the Roman Lakes via Marple or Marple Bridge can be made, each making a beautiful 20/30 minute walk.
From Marple Train Station via Marple: head out of the train station and up Brabyns Brow, crossing left onto Arkwright Road and then left again down Faywood Drive before following the directions by foot from Marple.
From Marple Train Station via Marple Bridge: head out of the train station and down Brabyns Brow, turning right onto Town Street at the bottom of the hill. At the end of Town Street, just past the pharmacy, turn right onto Low Lea Road and follow the on foot directions from Marple Bridge.
From Strines
From Strines Train Station: Strines Train Station is less frequently serviced but does make a beautiful point from which to walk to the Roman Lakes. Follow the on foot directions from Strines Train Station.
